About Flare Yoga

Flare Yoga was founded by Danae Wheeler with a clear and deeply personal mission: to create an inclusive yoga space where everybody feels welcome, respected, and empowered.

 

Living with chronic illness since her early twenties, Danae was told her fitness and activity levels would always be limited. Yoga became the practice that challenged that narrative — not by ignoring physical limits, but by listening to them. Through yoga, she rebuilt confidence, strength, and trust in her own body, discovering that progress doesn’t come from comparison, but from connection.

 

At its core, Flare Yoga is about returning yoga to its true purpose: not the pursuit of perfect shapes, but the cultivation of stillness, awareness, and self-connection in a busy, noisy world. Classes are designed to be accessible across all experience, fitness, and strength levels, with modifications woven seamlessly into every practice so students can choose what feels right for their bodies — without judgement or spotlight.

 

The name Flare reclaims a word often associated with struggle and reframes it as a symbol of strength, resilience, and optimism. The butterfly-wing logo honours Danae's personal journey with Lupus and her transformation, reflecting Flare’s belief that even through challenge, growth and empowerment are possible.

 

Flare Yoga is more than a class — it’s a community built on compassion, autonomy, and the belief that everyone deserves the space to move, heal, and grow at their own pace.
